Most women love high heels. Of these women, there tends to be two categories of people: those who love to wear high heels, and those who love the way  high heels shoes look on others, but never wear them because they have no idea how to walk properly. If you fall into the latter category, then this is certainly the article for you. Here, we explain how you can learn to walk - comfortably - in heels. Follow our advice, and within a few weeks, you too will be walking tall.


If you do not wear heels and pumps on a regular basis, then you probably understand the pain that can come from wearing this style of shoes. However, this pain is avoidable, you just need to know how to avoid it, and here's how:


  • Wear heels that suit your stage in your 'heel career'. In other words, stick to low heels until you have mastered your walk, and only then progress to a taller heel. You will get there in the end, but it takes practice. Start small.

  • With low slung heels, people tend to avoid wearing socks; this will cause pain. You should always wear socks - if you do not want people to see them then choose a pair of pop socks in a flesh color. Otherwise, you can wear tights to avoid this problem; tights and stilettos go well together.

  • Before you buy the fashion heels, check out the in-soles. They should be soft and squishy to the touch. One of the most comfortable types of sole is soft leather. Soft leather will mould to the shape of your foot, and providing that it is thick enough, will act as a shock absorber and create a comfort cushion.

Here is a quick guide:


  • Clearly, you should choose the situations in which you wear your sexy heels carefully. Initially, you need to stick to informal locations, until you have learned to walk well in heels. Once you have mastered the technique, you will be able to wear them practically everywhere - some people can even run in heels!

  • Remember to start with a smaller heel initially, and gradually build up.

  • Practice at home to start with; try walking towards and away from a mirror, so that you can judge your posture while you learn to walk.

  • Balance books on your head while walking - when walking correctly your head will be straight, eyes forward, and the books will balance comfortably.

  • Always place your heel on the floor before your toes.

  • Always buy high-quality shoes, as they will help you to avoid wobbles, and are much less likely to break when you place pressure in the wrong places (which you will do initially).

Remember that you should avoid wearing stiletto heels too often as it can damage some of the ligaments in the legs, which in turn makes it harder to walk in flats.
